2024
parched and weary, she wells up

whenua pigment watercolour (mud, Boggy Pond, Wairarapa Moana) on stretched hemp, 700x700mm

Glistening
A drop falls, making ripples
Growing into waves
That ebb through the body
Entwining every tiny treasure

Myriad voices
Hum in harmony, a collective gift
Their chorus broken by a line
Drawn straight and sharp
Encircling, enclosing

The flow broken
Drops consumed by the cracks
Parched and weary
She sighs and wells up
Destructively.

Until the lines are redrawn
Tinted with a damp brush
Twisting and swirling
Following her curves
A trickle starts to form

From one to the next It spreads like a web
Treasures glint and gleam
To become
A sea of glistening water.
